Vibrations (2016) tells a unique story about nature by capturing natural light reflected on to plants. I was able to manipulate the light and paint colorful reflections on to the plants, elevating an ordinary and recognizable subject into an abstract and obscured interpretation. Suddenly, through this abstraction, the photographs become quiet and still, yet powerful in emotion, calling upon the spirituality of nature. The light introduces a dynamic element that contrasts with the plants’ inherent static nature, infusing motion and vibrations into an otherwise stagnant form. Vibrations explores rather than exploits, the natural world around us and creates a conversation with nature, instead of an argument in which humans always win —proof that nature can be utilized without being harmed.
